Ethan, You’re a Big Four Year Old!
I was told by my Mom and my Dad,
When I turned four years old,
“Cathy, you’re a big girl now!”
That’s not what I wanted to be told.
You see, I wanted to stay little!
I wanted to play all day!
I knew that the bigger kids
Had to go to school someday!
You know what I found out?
Even when I got “the big” –
I still got to play outside!
I could even dance a jig!
I loved to roller skate fast,
And ride my bike around the block!
As long as I was careful
To keep my bicycle locked!
Then when I got even bigger,
I loved to play softball!
I loved almost every sport,
My favorite was volleyball!
It turned out that being older
Was nothing of which to be wary!
I got to meet your Grandpa!
And we decided to get married!
So Ethan, no matter how old you are,
You can always have fun and play!
You can even play when you’re older;
Grandma enjoys playing to this day!
